About Father David Schmidt

My name is Fr. David Schmidt and I was ordained to the priesthood on June 25, 2022 for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. I grew up in Butler, PA and before entering seminary I received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania and Old Dominion University. I’ve always loved sports and wanted to work in the sports industry. My dream job when I went to college was to become a General Manager for a Major League Baseball team. However, during college I started to discover the incredible depths of God’s love which led me to eventually discern a calling to the priesthood, so that I could dedicate my life to leading people to His infinite love.

Why ‘Beloved Throne’?

I chose the name ‘Beloved Throne’ for a couple reasons. My confirmation saint is King David who I have always had a special devotion too. ‘Throne’ points to the kingly and royal stature of King David. Also, the name David means ‘Beloved’. On a deeper level, Beloved is one of the names we call Jesus. He is our Beloved. He is our King. The goal of our spiritual life is for our heart to say, “My Beloved is mine, and I am His” (Song of Songs 2:16). My hope is that this website will help each person have their hearts captivated by the love of the Beloved and allow Him to draw them into the depths of His Love for all eternity.
